About Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica)
Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica) or Asian Centella is a plant native to Asia. It has been used for centuries by Indians and Quintans as a food and as a medicine.
It is a plant with vitamins A, E and B, and is an excellent source of magnesium, calcium, selenium and zinc.
Gotu Kola has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, providing a calming effect on nervous disorders and anxiety, and reducing the symptoms of depression.
It lowers arterial pressure and heart rate, increases haemoglobin levels and strengthens blood vessels.
Improves blood circulation to the brain and oxygen supply to the brain, thereby improving mental abilities, speeding up thinking, memory and concentration.
Gotu Kola has a wound-healing effect due to the activation of cell division (mitosis) by the active ingredient asitacoside. It stimulates the synthesis of collagen, which is essential for the formation of connective tissue. Gotu Kola therefore enhances the process of tissue regeneration and, in particular, the repair of damaged skin.
In Oriental medicine, Gotu Kola is known as a remedy that helps the regeneration of mucous membranes and skin (in the case of minor wounds, burns, cuts), and also aids the healing of trophic ulcers.
High quality Asian centella
This is an ancient herb known in India and used in Ayurvedic medicine as the best brain food or memory herb. Its main property is to improve blood circulation to the brain. Consumption of Gotu Kola increases oxygenation of the tissues resulting in the renewal of brain functions and improvement of memory, assimilation of information, intelligence, stimulation of thought processes, and smoother and more expressive speech. Peripheral blood circulation is also improved, veins and capillaries are strengthened, blood pressure is normalised and symptoms of depression are reduced. This effect is explained by the plant’s bioflavonoids, which relax the smooth muscles of the blood vessels. The active substances in Gotu Kola stimulate the nerve endings, which in response release acetylcholine, which has a calming effect.
